How We Get the Job Done

Our process is designed for safety, efficiency, and quality at every step. We don't cut corners — we follow a proven system that delivers consistent, exceptional results.

01

Consultation & Color Selection

We assess your cabinets, discuss finish options and colors, and provide a detailed quote. We'll advise on which colors and sheens work best for your kitchen's lighting and style.

02

Hardware & Door Removal

We remove all cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and hardware and number every piece for precise reinstallation. Organized removal ensures everything goes back exactly where it belongs.

03

Deep Cleaning & Degreasing

Kitchen cabinets accumulate years of grease and residue. We use heavy-duty degreasers to strip all contaminants — skipping this step is the #1 reason DIY cabinet jobs fail.

04

Sanding

All surfaces are sanded to create a proper mechanical bond for the primer. We sand by hand in detailed areas and use palm sanders on flat surfaces for consistency.

05

Primer Application

We apply a bonding primer specifically formulated for cabinetry — products like Zinsser BIN or Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond. This step is non-negotiable for a finish that lasts.

06

Spray-Applied Topcoat

We spray two coats of premium cabinet-grade finish using professional HVLP spray equipment in a controlled environment. Spraying (not rolling) is what creates that smooth, furniture-quality finish.

07

Reinstallation & Final Inspection

All doors and hardware are carefully reinstalled. We inspect every door for drips, sags, or missed areas. You'll do a final walkthrough with us before we leave.

Materials We Use

We only use professional-grade products from trusted brands. The quality of materials is just as important as the quality of application — and we never compromise on either.

Benjamin Moore Advance Waterborne Alkyd

The industry-preferred cabinet paint — it flows out to a smooth, hard finish that rivals factory-baked finishes. Exceptional durability and cleanability.

Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel

A hard, scrubbable finish that stands up to the rigors of daily kitchen use. Excellent leveling for a nearly brush-mark-free application.

Zinsser BIN Shellac-Based Primer

The gold standard primer for cabinetry — seals tannins in wood, provides outstanding adhesion, and creates a perfect base for a smooth topcoat.

Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Primer

Our primer of choice for previously painted or slick cabinet surfaces — extraordinary adhesion without heavy sanding.

HVLP Spray Equipment

High-Volume Low-Pressure spray guns deliver a fine, atomized finish that achieves a factory-smooth result impossible with brushes or rollers.

400-Grit Wet/Dry Sandpaper

Used between coats for ultra-smooth inter-coat sanding, eliminating any dust nibs or imperfections before the final topcoat.

Why Betitos Is the Best Choice

We spray, not roll. Rolled cabinet paint always shows texture. Our finish looks like it came from the factory.
We degrease before every project — it's the step most painters skip that causes peeling within months.
We use cabinet-specific alkyd-based paints that cure rock hard — not wall paint applied to cabinets.
Doors are removed and painted in a clean, controlled environment — not painted hanging in place.
Our finishes are fully washable and stand up to daily cleaning without dulling or peeling.
We've transformed hundreds of kitchens across the Chicago suburbs. This is a specialty, not a side service.
